With recognition for his field experience, he was appointed to Senior Deputy Sheriff and developed the newly created Burglary Suppression Office within the city of Rancho Mirage. After serving in his assignment with the Burglary Suppression Office, he was selected as a motorcycle enforcement officer within the Palm Desert Station.
In 2002 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and served at the Palm Desert Station where he acted as patrol shift team leader in the unincorporated county area and the contract cities of Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells and Palm Desert.
In 2006 he was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Indio Station where he supervised the Traffic Services Bureau for the contract cities of La Quinta and Coachella until 2010. Between 2010 and 2013, he was assigned to administrative duties at the newly opened Sheriff’s Station in Thermal and, later, at the Planning and Research Bureau in downtown Riverside.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 2013, he was transferred from Riverside to oversee patrol operations in the unincorporated communities and contract cities served by the Thermal Station.
Lieutenant Walton has received several accolades in his service to our community and was named Riverside County’s Uniformed Officer of the Year and Southern California’s Investigator of the Year. He also proudly served his country with the United States Army and joined his unit’s deployments into the Middle East, Central and South Americas.
Lieutenant Walton and his family share a vested interest in this community and remain long term residents of La Quinta.
