Lieutenant Frank Velasco has been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office for 21 years. He was assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station where he served the communities of Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, and the surrounding unincorporated communities. Lieutenant Velasco worked patrol operations and held positions within the Palm Desert Traffic Team as a Motorcycle Enforcement Officer, Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team as well as being a field training officer. Lieutenant Velasco was promoted to Corporal within the Palm Desert Station in October of 2010 and later transferred to the East County Training Center as a training coordinator.
Lieutenant Velasco was promoted to Sergeant in September of 2017 and was assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station. As a Sergeant, he worked as a patrol watch commander, as the Palm Desert Administration Sergeant and on the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team. In December of 2020, Lieutenant Velasco was transferred to the Special Investigations Bureau supervising narcotics investigations.
In January of 2022, Lieutenant Velasco was promoted to Lieutenant and transferred to the Thermal Sheriff's Station where he worked as a patrol lieutenant. In November of 2023, Lieutenant Velasco was reassigned to the contract city of La Quinta. As a Lieutenant, his primary role is to oversee and manage law enforcement services, while finding opportunities to enhance the delivery, improve the quality of life for city residents and visitors, and reduce crime.
