Sergeant Mark Chlarson has been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for 19 years. He was assigned to the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station where he served the communities of Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, and the surrounding unincorporated communities. He worked patrol operations and held positions on the Palm Desert Business District Team and Palm Desert Traffic Team as a Motorcycle Enforcement Officer.
In 2012, Sergeant Chlarson was selected to the Riverside County Sheriff's Hazardous Device Team as a Bomb Technician and Explosives K9 handler. He has held ancillary duties with the Riverside County Sheriff's Underwater Search and Recovery Team as a diver and Riverside County Sheriff's Honor Guard.
In 2022, Sergeant Chlarson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and transferred to the Thermal Sheriff's Station where he was assigned to patrol operations. In October of 2023, Sergeant Chlarson was selected as the La Quinta Administrative and Traffic Sergeant. In this position, Sergeant Chlarson is responsible for supervising the Traffic Enforcement Team, School Resources Officers, and the La Quinta Volunteer Program.
Sergeant Chlarson previously served in the United States Marine Corps and possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
